How to Create a Pricing Rule

Apply the same volume pricing tiers to multiple products, variants or collections without setting up each product individually.

Saul Sampson·October 28, 2026

Set up volume pricing for multiple products at once using Pricing Rules.

Instead of adding pricing tiers to each product individually, Pricing Rules let you apply the same discounts across multiple products, variants or entire collections.

For example, you could create a rule offering:

  • Buy 5+ - Save 10%

  • Buy 10+ - Save 15%

  • Buy 25+ - Save 20%

You only need to create the rule once, and we'll automatically apply the pricing to all eligible products.

Pro Plan Feature:
Pricing Rules are available on the Pro plan and development stores. You can explore the rule editor on other plans, but you'll need to upgrade to Pro to save your rules.

Step 1: Create a New Rule

  1. Open the MNML Volume Pricing app.

  2. Select Pricing Rules from the navigation.

  3. Click "Create rule".

  4. Enter a Title for your rule, such as "Wholesale Discounts" or "Summer Collection Pricing".

  5. Choose a Status:

    • "Active" - The rule applies to eligible products at checkout.

    • "Inactive" - The rule is saved but won't apply until activated.

Your title can contain up to 100 characters. We recommend using a descriptive name to make your rules easier to manage.

Step 2: Choose Which Products to Include

Under "Applies to", choose where your pricing rule should apply.

Option

What it does

"All products"

Applies the rule across your entire store.

"Specific products"

Choose individual products or particular variants.

"Specific collections"

Apply pricing to products within selected collections.

For specific products or collections, click "Browse" to open Shopify's selection window.

You can also start typing in the search field to find products or collections more quickly.

Selecting product variants

When selecting products, you can include all variants or just particular ones.

  • All variants selected: The entire product is included, even if you add new variants later.

  • Only some variants selected: The rule applies exclusively to those selected variants.

Step 3: Add Your Volume Pricing Tiers

Choose your preferred discount strategy:

"Discount Strategy: Percentage Discount"

Offer a percentage off the regular price when customers reach a quantity threshold.

Example:

Quantity

Discount

5+

10% off

10+

15% off

25+

20% off

"Discount Strategy: Fixed Price"

Set a specific price per item based on the quantity purchased.

Example:

Quantity

Price per item

5+

£18.00

10+

£16.00

25+

£14.00

For each tier, enter the minimum quantity and the price or percentage discount.

You can also add an optional badge, such as "Popular" or "Best Value", which appears on the storefront Volume Pricing Widget.

You can create up to 20 pricing tiers per rule.

Step 4: Choose Whether to Enable Mix & Match

The "Mix & match" setting controls whether customers can combine quantities from different products to qualify for a discount.

This is enabled by default.

Enabled - "Count quantities across all products in this rule."

Imagine a customer adds the following products to their basket:

  • Product A: 2 items

  • Product B: 3 items

  • Total: 5 items

Both products qualify for the 5+ tier, because their quantities are counted together.

Disabled

Each cart line must reach the quantity threshold independently.

Using the same example, neither product would qualify for the 5+ discount.

Mix & match is particularly useful for collections where customers might buy different colours, styles or products together.

Products with their own volume pricing tiers are not included in the rule's mix & match calculation. Their individual pricing takes priority.

Step 5: Save Your Rule

Once you're happy with your settings, save your pricing rule.

If its status is "Active", the rule will apply to eligible products at checkout.

You can return to Pricing Rules at any time to view and manage your rules. The list displays each rule's name, scope, tiers and status.

Where Will Customers See the Pricing?

Your pricing rules work automatically at checkout.

If you've added the Volume Pricing Widget to your product pages, it will also display the relevant tiers for products covered by the rule.

You don't need to add pricing tiers individually to those products.

Pricing Rules work with both Discount and Final Price pricing modes.

Editing or Deleting a Rule

To make changes, open the rule from the Pricing Rules page.

To permanently delete a rule, open it and click "Delete rule" at the bottom.

Deleting a rule is permanent. Any products relying on that rule will no longer receive its volume pricing.
