With Mix & Match, customers can purchase different products from the same Pricing Rule and have their quantities counted together.
For example, instead of requiring customers to buy five of the same product, they could buy two of one product and three of another to qualify for your 5+ discount.
Imagine you've created a Pricing Rule offering:
Quantity | Discount |
|---|---|
5+ | 10% off |
10+ | 15% off |
20+ | 20% off |
A customer adds the following items to their basket:
Product | Quantity |
|---|---|
Blue T-Shirt | 2 |
Red T-Shirt | 3 |
Black Hoodie | 5 |
Total | 10 |
With Mix & Match enabled, all 10 items count towards the same quantity threshold.
Result: All eligible items receive the 15% discount.
Without Mix & Match, each cart line is calculated separately. The two T-shirt lines wouldn't qualify, while the five hoodies would receive the 10% discount.
Open MNML Volume Pricing โ Pricing Rules.
Click "Create rule" or open an existing rule.
Under "Applies to", choose "All products", "Specific products" or "Specific collections".
Add your volume pricing tiers.
Enable "Mix & match" โ "Count quantities across all products in this rule."
Save your rule and ensure its status is "Active".
Mix & Match is enabled by default when creating a new rule.
Only products and variants that are eligible for the same Pricing Rule are counted together.
For example, if your rule applies to a Summer Collection, customers can mix eligible products within that collection.
Products outside the rule won't contribute to its quantity total.
Products with their own volume pricing
If a product or variant has its own volume pricing tiers, those tiers take priority over the Pricing Rule.
That item won't receive the rule's discount, and its quantity won't count towards the Mix & Match total.
MNML Volume Pricing also offers "Combine Variants for Volume Pricing". Although similar, the two features work differently.
Mix & Match | Combine Variants | |
|---|---|---|
Works across different products | Yes | No |
Combines variants of one product | Yes, if covered by the same rule | Yes |
Configured through | Pricing Rules | Individual product pricing |
Requires Pro Plan | Yes | No |
Which should I use?
Use Mix & Match when you want customers to combine different products to unlock better prices.
Use Combine Variants for Volume Pricing when you only want to combine quantities across variants of a single product, such as different T-shirt colours or sizes.
Yes, provided those products are eligible for the same Pricing Rule.
You can select multiple collections within one rule, and their eligible products will count together.
Yes. Mix & Match works with both "Fixed Price" and "Percentage Discount" strategies.
With fixed pricing, each eligible item receives the applicable tier's fixed unit price, provided it produces a discount against that item's regular price.
Yes. Turn off "Mix & match" in your Pricing Rule.
Each cart line will then need to meet the quantity thresholds independently.
Yes. Once your Pricing Rule is active, qualifying quantities are calculated automatically at checkout.
There's no additional setup required.
